Pottery by Sarah

About

Each item is handmade, imperfection and color variations are part of their charm. Celebrate and enjoy the beauty of handmade pottery!

My name is Sarah, and I am an artist from Michigan with a passion for handmade pottery. There is something truly special about shaping natural elements from the Earth into functional and beautiful pieces.

My goal is to create high-quality pottery that is beautiful, functional, and unique.

I enjoy making pottery, but the most rewarding part is seeing how happy my creations make others. I use stoneware clay due to its distinctive stone-like qualities, durability, and chip-resistant nature. It has excellent thermal properties and can last a lifetime with care.

All items are food, microwave, and dishwasher safe.

The Process

Care: Pottery can last a lifetime and be passed down for generations if not subject to sudden impacts or extreme temperature changes. Pottery should never be placed on direct heat, under a broiler, over direct flame or on the stovetop. Do not transfer directly from freezer to oven. Store inside during freezing temperatures.

Creating each piece takes several weeks and involves a careful process of designing, wedging, sculpting, detailing, and gradually drying. Once fully dried, the piece undergoes a bisque firing, which makes it porous and prepares it for glazing. Each item is then hand-painted with several coats of nontoxic glaze and returned to the kiln for the final glaze firing, which is high-fired for enhanced strength and durability. Your item is then checked and sanded before being posted out to you.

I am fortunate to own a few pieces of pottery made by Sarah. They are absolutely beautiful. When you hold them, you can tell they are sturdy and made of high-quality material. Love her creations!
